Paris-born electronic music composer Aho Ssan, born Niamké Désiré, crafts intricate soundscapes rooted in noise, glitch, and abstract club music. Drawing on a background in graphic design and cinema, he infuses his music with a strong visual and narrative sensibility, often tackling themes of identity, systemic oppression, and Afrofuturism. His debut album, “Simulacrum” (2020), released on Subtext Recordings, garnered critical acclaim for its emotive depth and technical prowess, earning a nomination for Best Album at the 2020 Prix Ars Electronica.
Aho Ssan’s live performances—featured at festivals such as CTM, Unsound, and Berlin Atonal—are known for their immersive, confrontational energy. He has collaborated with boundary-pushing artists like Moor Mother, KMRU, and Loraine James, and contributed to projects with Ensemble Intercontemporain. Constantly pushing the boundaries of experimental electronic music, Aho Ssan continues to investigate hybridity, resilience, and digital fragmentation through his evolving sound palette.
