Arushi Jain

Arushi Jain grew up in Delhi, India, where her early immersion in Indian classical music began with formal training in Hindustani classical vocal and tabla. After moving to the United States for university, she earned a degree in computer science and music at Stanford University, where she also delved into the world of modular synthesis at the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA). Blending her roots in ragas and improvisation with a fascination for analog electronics, Arushi Jain is known for her innovative approach to synthesis—reinterpreting traditional South Asian motifs through modular synths and electronic textures.

Her unique sound bridges centuries and continents, fusing intricate rhythms and modal patterns with contemporary, ambient explorations. Beyond her acclaimed 2021 debut album "Under the Lilac Sky," Jain is recognized as the founder of Ghunghru, a radio show and platform spotlighting South Asian electronic music. Her performances, including at festivals such as Mutek, BLOT!

and Rewire, captivate audiences with immersive sets that range from meditative to ecstatic. With each project, Arushi Jain continues to push the boundaries between classical tradition and cutting-edge experimentation, helping to redefine diasporic Indian electronic music on a global stage.
