Curses is the genre-blurring moniker of New York City-bred, Berlin-based musician and DJ Luca Venezia. Emerging from Brooklyn’s underground in the early 2010s, he quickly earned a reputation for fusing moody post-punk, haunting new wave, and dark disco with modern leftfield electronics. After establishing himself within NYC’s revered Trouble & Bass collective, Curses shifted to Europe, absorbing influences from Berlin’s vibrant club scene and weaving his love for Italo disco, EBM, and brooding post-punk into both his productions and DJ sets.

His debut album, "Romantic Fiction" (2018), released via the distinguished Dischi Autunno label, showcased melancholic guitars, vintage drum machines, and spectral vocals, while follow-ups like "Incarnadine" (2022) further entrenched his unique hybrid sound. As a DJ, Curses is acclaimed for marathon, emotionally-charged sets bridging danceable darkness with nostalgia-soaked melody, performing at top clubs including Berghain, Fabric, and Blitz. His production credits span celebrated labels such as Permanent Vacation, Bordello A Parigi, Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant, and his own Ombra International imprint.
