Born Daniel Edward Stein in Worthing, England, DJ Fresh is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of modern drum and bass and electronic music. Beginning his career in the late 1990s, he first gained acclaim as a founding member of the influential drum and bass collective Bad Company UK. Their seminal track “The Nine” is still regarded as one of the greatest drum and bass productions of all time.
Branching out as a solo artist, DJ Fresh quickly made a name for himself with innovative production techniques and a knack for creating dancefloor anthems. He released his debut album *Escape from Planet Monday* in 2006 before achieving mainstream success with *Kryptonite* (2010), featuring the hit “Gold Dust.” DJ Fresh’s third album, *Nextlevelism* (2012), solidified his reputation as a chart-topping producer, boasting singles like “Louder” (the first-ever dubstep number one in the UK), “Hot Right Now” (feat.
Rita Ora), and “Gravity” (feat. Ella Eyre). Known for his high-energy DJ sets and genre-blending productions, he continually pushed the boundaries of bass music, collaborating with artists like Diplo, Ellie Goulding, and Dizzee Rascal.
Aside from his solo work, DJ Fresh co-founded Breakbeat Kaos, a label that helped launch the careers of artists including Pendulum and Sigma. Throughout his career, he’s remained a trailblazer in the electronic music scene, continually evolving his sound while leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
