Born Stefan Kozalla in 1972 in Flensburg, Germany, DJ Koze is a critically acclaimed DJ, producer, and electronic music innovator. Launching his career in the 1990s as a hip-hop DJ and member of the group Fischmob, he soon shifted focus toward house, techno, and experimental electronic music. His production style often fuses quirky humor, emotive melodies, and unconventional sampling, establishing him as a unique force in the scene.
After moving to Hamburg, Koze became a regular at legendary German clubs and won DJ competitions, earning widespread respect for his genre-defying sets. His solo albums, including "Kosi Comes Around" (2005), "Amygdala" (2013), and "Knock Knock" (2018), have received critical praise, blending psychedelic textures with club-ready beats and showcasing collaborations with artists such as Róisín Murphy, José González, and Bon Iver. DJ Koze also runs the pioneering label Pampa Records, championing innovative releases across electronic genres.
Revered for both his versatility and signature sound, Koze remains in demand as a remixer (reimagining tracks for artists like Låpsley, Moderat, and Gorillaz) and as an international DJ, continually reshaping the boundaries of dance music.
