Born Hideaki Ishi in Tokyo in 1962, DJ Krush emerged as a pioneering figure in Japan’s hip-hop scene and developed an international reputation for his atmospheric, jazz-influenced productions. Initially introduced to hip-hop culture through the film "Wild Style" in the early 1980s, Krush began his career as a member of the graffiti crew Krush Posse before teaching himself the art of turntablism. Distinguished by his moody, cinematic soundscapes and sophisticated sample manipulation, he released his debut album "KRUSH" in 1994, establishing himself as a visionary producer.

Over the years, DJ Krush has collaborated with a range of artists including CL Smooth, Mos Def, Company Flow, and DJ Shadow, bridging the gap between Japanese and global hip-hop communities.
