Eli Shaw

Eli Shaw is a contemporary visual artist known for their evocative exploration of memory, landscape, and identity. Born in 1987 in Minneapolis, Shaw grew up inspired by the shifting seasons and eclectic cultural tapestry of the Midwest. After earning a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Shaw deepened their practice through travels in Europe and residencies throughout the United States.

Drawing on a layered approach to painting and mixed media, Shaw’s work often blends abstraction and figuration, inviting viewers to consider the interplay between personal history and collective experience. Their art has been exhibited extensively in solo and group shows across major cities, including New York, Los Angeles, and Berlin, garnering critical acclaim for its rich textures and thoughtful narratives. Shaw currently resides in Portland, Oregon, where they also teach workshops and mentor emerging artists, continuing to push boundaries and foster creative communities wherever they are.
