Fatima Yamaha is the alias of Dutch electronic music producer Bas Bron. Emerging in the early 2000s, Bron initially introduced Fatima Yamaha as a playful, enigmatic project, but quickly drew attention with the breakout single “What’s A Girl To Do?” (2004).
The track’s infectious, melancholy synth melody became an underground classic, gaining widespread acclaim and a cult following in clubs across Europe. Despite the early success, Fatima Yamaha releases were sparse, enhancing the project's mystique. Bas Bron, already established in the Dutch music scene with projects like De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig and Seymour Bits, used Fatima Yamaha to explore a unique blend of electro, house, and synth-driven grooves interwoven with emotive nostalgia.
After the reissue of “What’s A Girl To Do?” in 2015 by Dekmantel, Fatima Yamaha experienced a resurgence, prompting Bron to embrace touring and festival performances under this moniker. The debut album “Imaginary Lines” (2015) reinforced Fatima Yamaha’s distinctive sound: shimmering synths, infectious beats, and a cinematic atmosphere.
Over the years, Fatima Yamaha has shared stages at leading festivals and clubs worldwide, steadily releasing new music—including the acclaimed sophomore album “Spontaneous Order” (2020). Through carefully curated releases and enigmatic public persona, Fatima Yamaha has secured a unique legacy in electronic music, balancing timeless melodies with the thrill of dancefloor innovation.
