Beginning his career as “The Wizard” on local Detroit radio in the 1980s, Mills became renowned for his rapid-fire mixing skills and eclectic sets that drew from techno, electro, hip hop, and industrial sounds. In 1989, Mills co-founded the seminal underground techno collective Underground Resistance alongside “Mad” Mike Banks, producing politically charged, raw techno that became synonymous with Detroit’s second wave.
