Katja is a contemporary visual artist whose work explores the interplay between memory, identity, and the shifting nature of urban landscapes. Born in 1987 in Helsinki, Finland, she developed an early fascination with the power of color and abstract forms, leading her to pursue studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki, where she graduated in 2010. Katja’s practice spans painting, mixed media, and installation, often incorporating found objects and textured surfaces to evoke both personal and collective histories.
Over the past decade, her distinctive combination of gestural brushwork and intricate layering has garnered recognition across Europe and beyond, with solo exhibitions in Berlin, Paris, and Stockholm. Her works are included in numerous private and public collections, and she has been awarded residencies in both the Nordic region and the United States. Katja continues to live and work in Helsinki, where she draws inspiration from the city’s dynamic cultural scene and the natural beauty that surrounds it.
