Kokoroko is a dynamic eight-piece collective hailing from London, United Kingdom, celebrated for their innovative fusion of Afrobeat, jazz, and soul. Formed in 2014 and led by trumpeter and composer Sheila Maurice-Grey, the band draws inspiration from the sounds of West Africa—particularly the pioneering Afrobeat of Fela Kuti and Tony Allen—while weaving in the multi-layered jazz sensibilities of the UK’s thriving contemporary scene.
