Luke Slater is a prolific British electronic musician, DJ, and record producer whose influential career spans more than three decades. Born in Reading, England in 1968 and raised in Horley, Slater was first drawn to music through his father's collection of analog synthesizers and record players. He began DJing in the late 1980s, becoming a key figure in the burgeoning UK techno scene.

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Slater released music under numerous aliases—including Planetary Assault Systems, L.B. Dub Corp, and The 7th Plain—each project exploring different facets of techno, electro, and experimental electronic music.

Slater is celebrated for his forward-thinking productions and dynamic DJ sets, as well as seminal releases on influential labels such as Peacefrog, Ostgut Ton, Warp, and his own Mote-Evolver imprint.
