Born Martijn Gerard Garritsen on May 14, 1996, in Amstelveen, Netherlands, Martin Garrix developed a passion for music at an early age, inspired by watching Tiësto perform at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He began producing music as a teenager, and by 2012, Garrix released his first tracks under the pseudonym “GRX.” His international breakthrough came in 2013 with the single “Animals,” a chart-topping hit that propelled him to global stardom and solidified his place in the electronic dance music scene.
Garrix continued to build on his success with a string of high-profile releases including collaborations with artists such as Usher (“Don’t Look Down”), Dua Lipa (“Scared to Be Lonely”), and Bebe Rexha (“In the Name of Love”). He became the youngest DJ to headline Ultra Music Festival in 2014 and has been a mainstay at major festivals such as Tomorrowland and Coachella. Consistently ranked among the world’s top DJs, Garrix was named No.
1 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list for three consecutive years from 2016 to 2018. In 2016, Garrix launched his own record label, STMPD RCRDS, to have creative freedom and mentor emerging talents. Beyond his signature progressive house sound, his music spans a variety of genres, reflecting his versatility as a producer.
Garrix has also been involved in charity initiatives and was chosen as the official artist for the UEFA Euro 2020 Tournament’s anthem.
