Metronomy

Metronomy is the electronic music project led by English musician and producer Joseph Mount. Formed in 1999 in Totnes, Devon, Metronomy began as a solo venture, with Mount experimenting with electronic sounds and homemade beats. The project later expanded to become a full band, featuring Oscar Cash, Anna Prior, Olugbenga Adelekan, and Michael Lovett.

Embracing a distinctive blend of indie pop, synthpop, and electronica, Metronomy achieved critical recognition with their 2008 album, *Nights Out*, which showcased their playful, quirky aesthetic and knack for catchy hooks. Their 2011 follow-up, *The English Riviera*, marked a turning point, fusing lush melodies with mellow grooves and earning a Mercury Prize nomination. The band’s explorations have continued across subsequent releases, including *Love Letters* (2014), *Summer 08* (2016), *Metronomy Forever* (2019), and *Small World* (2022), each reflecting their evolving sound and inventive approach to songwriting and production.

Known for stylish live shows and creative music videos, Metronomy has maintained a significant influence on both the European electronic and indie scenes. Mount’s collaborative work with artists such as Robyn, Roots Manuva, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor further highlights the broad appeal and versatility of the Metronomy project.
