Mura Masa

Born Alex Crossan in Guernsey in 1996, Mura Masa is a British electronic music producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose genre-blurring sound has become synonymous with the fluidity of contemporary pop, electronic, and hip-hop. Taking his stage name from the Japanese swordsmith Muramasa, Crossan began uploading tracks to SoundCloud as a teenager, quickly gaining international attention with his innovative fusion of UK garage, hip-hop, trap, and indie pop. After the widespread success of his viral 2015 single "Fireflies" and his debut EP *Someday Somewhere*, Mura Masa signed to major label Polydor and released his self-titled debut album in 2017.

The album featured collaborations with artists such as A$AP Rocky, Charli XCX, Desiigner, and NAO, and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album. Known for his playful, emotionally charged production and knack for unearthing emerging vocal talent, Mura Masa has continued to evolve his sound, drawing on influences from the UK club scene, punk, and global pop. His sophomore album, *RYC* ("Raw Youth Collage"), released in 2020, explored themes of nostalgia and youth culture through collaborations with Clairo, slowthai, and Tirzah, showcasing his versatility and willingness to push genre boundaries.

Beyond his own releases, Mura Masa has produced and remixed tracks for a range of artists including Stormzy, Octavian, PinkPantheress, and Haim. Respected for both his technical skill and his curatorial vision, Mura Masa remains a defining voice in 21st-century electronic music, consistently challenging expectations and inspiring new generations of artists and fans worldwide.
