Overmono is the collaborative project of British brothers Tom and Ed Russell, both of whom have deep roots in the UK’s cutting-edge electronic music scene. Prior to joining forces, Tom performed as Truss, known for his gritty techno productions, while Ed found acclaim as Tessela, most notably with the bass anthem “Hackney Parrot.” Formed in 2016, Overmono quickly gained recognition for their dynamic fusion of UK garage, breakbeat, techno, and jungle, creating a signature sound that blends classic rave sensibilities with contemporary production.
Their early releases on XL Recordings, such as the “Arla” EP series, introduced listeners to densely textured soundscapes, emotive synth work, and energetic percussion. Overmono’s innovative approach has led to unforgettable club tracks like “So U Kno” and “Gunk,” colliding nostalgia with forward-thinking atmospheres. The duo’s live performances, marked by modular synths and hardware-heavy improvisation, have earned them spots at premier festivals and international venues, further solidifying their reputation as key figures in modern UK club culture.
In 2023, they released their critically acclaimed debut album, “Good Lies,” which showcased their unique ability to marry intricate rhythms and melodic flourishes. Overmono’s unwavering commitment to experimentation and emotional resonance has placed them at the forefront of the next wave of electronic music, reaffirming the UK’s pivotal role in shaping global dance music trends.
