Paluma Sound is an emerging electronic music duo blending deep house, organic rhythms, and tropical atmospheres to create a distinct soundscape inspired by the lush rainforests and vibrant coastlines of northern Australia. Founded by producers Jack Murray and Elise Tan in 2021, the project takes its name from the Paluma Range National Park, with both artists drawing creative energy from their upbringings near Townsville. Paluma Sound’s productions are marked by warm synths, intricate percussion, and evocative field recordings captured from their natural surroundings, resulting in music that transports listeners to sun-dappled, mist-filled rainforest mornings.
The duo’s debut EP, “Mist Valley,” released in 2023, quickly caught the attention of both Australian radio and global tastemaker playlists, carving out a reputation for immersive live sets that incorporate live instrumentation and lush visual projections. With influences ranging from Bonobo and Maribou State to local Indigenous artists, Paluma Sound continues to push boundaries, channeling the wild and serene essence of tropical Queensland into every beat and melody.
