SilkyBlack is a boundary-pushing visual artist best known for their work blending urban textures with evocative portraiture, drawing inspiration from both street art and Afrofuturism. Born and raised in Detroit, SilkyBlack found early creative roots in graffiti culture, later honing their skills in formal art institutions and grassroots collectives throughout the Midwest. Their vibrant, layered compositions explore Black identity, resilience, and dreams, weaving together elements of hip-hop, mythology, and digital abstraction.

SilkyBlack’s artwork has been featured in galleries from New York to Berlin, and their collaborative murals have enlivened cityscapes across the United States.
