Soundstream

Soundstream is the pseudonym of Ukrainian DJ and producer Alexander Malahov. Since emerging in the mid-2000s, he has become recognized for his distinct interpretation of disco, house, and Soviet-era funk, fusing vintage grooves with crisp, contemporary beats. Drawing inspiration from early electronic disco and New York house, Soundstream’s productions are characterized by raw sampling, driving rhythms, and a warm, analog sound that evokes classic dancefloor energy.

Based in Berlin, Soundstream made his mark in 2005 with the self-titled debut on his own Soundstream imprint. The “Love Jam” 12-inch quickly became an underground sensation, praised for its hypnotic loops and punchy basslines. Subsequent releases such as “Makin’ Love,” “Live Goes On,” and “All Night” have further cemented his reputation, gaining support from legendary selectors such as Theo Parrish, DJ Harvey, and Steffi.

In addition to his work under Soundstream, Malahov is known for projects such as Soundhack (his more experimental moniker) and as one half of Smith N Hack with Erik D. Clark, where he explored leftfield disco edits and house innovations. His DJ sets reflect his deep-rooted passion for soulful, groove-driven music, seamlessly blending disco rarities, timeless house, and offbeat gems to create euphoric dancefloor journeys.
