Thomas Melchior is a pioneering figure in the world of minimal and microhouse music. Born in Germany and based in Berlin and London, Melchior has built an illustrious career spanning over three decades. He began experimenting with electronic music in the late 1980s and quickly established himself as a versatile producer and DJ, working under numerous aliases including Melchior Productions Ltd.
, Soul Capsule (with Baby Ford), Sunpeople, and Vulva (with Tim Hutton). His early influences ranged from jazz and soul to classical and avant-garde, all of which are subtly reflected in his highly detailed and rhythmic productions. Melchior’s breakthrough came in the late 1990s as he became a central figure in the European minimal techno scene, releasing music on influential labels such as Perlon, Playhouse, and Cadenza.
