INFO

The Pav, formally known as The Pavilion, was a renowned nightclub and live music venue located at 13 Carey's Lane in the heart of Cork city, Ireland. The building itself has deep historical roots, originally constructed in 1921 as a cinema, which gives the venue its name. After its cinematic heyday, the premises underwent various transformations before emerging in the 2000s as The Pav—a cornerstone of Cork's vibrant nightlife and music culture.
The venue quickly gained a reputation for its eclectic programming, drawing crowds with everything from electronic dance nights to indie and jazz gigs. Its spacious interior, high ceilings, and classic architectural features made it a favorite both for club-goers and artists alike, creating an atmosphere that combined old-world charm with contemporary energy. The Pav became culturally significant as a space where Cork’s diverse communities came together, supporting grass roots artists and drawing international acts, thereby cementing its role as a key hub for live performance in Munster.
Over the years, The Pav underwent several refurbishments to modernize the space and improve acoustics, but it always retained a certain indie character that endeared it to regulars. Sadly, after a period of financial challenges and shifts in the city’s nightlife landscape, The Pav closed its doors in 2014. Its legacy, however, endures in Cork’s collective memory as a place of musical discovery and unforgettable nights.
Notable artists who have performed at The Pav include international acts such as Four Tet, Andrew Weatherall, Simian Mobile Disco, Gold Panda, DJ Food, and Jamie xx, as well as celebrated Irish musicians and bands like Jape, The Frank and Walters, Fred, RSAG, and Le Galaxie. The venue was also a regular stage for local legends Fish Go Deep and featured DJs and performers spanning the spectrum from jazz to house, continuing to influence and inspire Cork's cultural landscape long after its closure.
