INFO

Pianos is a well-known nightclub and live music venue located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City. Established in 2002, the venue quickly became a staple of the downtown music scene, occupying a space that was once an actual piano store, which inspired its current name and motif. Pianos has maintained much of its original storefront charm, incorporating the quirky spirit of its past into an energetic, modern setting.
The main floor features a bustling bar and dining area, while the back room and the upstairs lounge host nightly live performances. Revered for its intimate atmosphere and excellent acoustics, Pianos has cultivated a reputation as a launching pad for indie, rock, electronic, and experimental artists, contributing significantly to the cultural vibrancy of New York’s nightlife. While some nightclubs in Manhattan have relocated or undergone extensive structural changes, Pianos has remained in its original location at 158 Ludlow Street, becoming a landmark for both emerging talent and music fans.
Over the years, despite neighborhood shifts and the challenges facing independent venues, Pianos has retained its commitment to supporting up-and-coming artists, helping them reach wider audiences and grow their followings. Notable artists who have performed at Pianos include The National, Passion Pit, Chairlift, A$AP Rocky, Yeasayer, Santigold, Mitski, Ra Ra Riot, Vampire Weekend, St. Lucia, The Drums, Portugal.
The Man, MGMT, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and Tokyo Police Club. The venue is also celebrated for giving a platform to local acts such as The Bravery, Matt and Kim, and Cults, as well as hosting early-career sets from performers who would later achieve greater stardom both domestically and internationally.
