Tripod was a renowned nightclub and live music venue located on Harcourt Street in
Dublin, Ireland. It opened its doors in 2006, occupying the space formerly known as the Red Box, which itself had a rich history as a major venue in the city’s nightlife. Tripod quickly established itself as one of
Dublin’s premier nightlife destinations, catering to both clubbers and live music aficionados.
Its reputation was built on a cutting-edge sound system, stylish modern design, and a varied, eclectic lineup that embraced electronic dance music, indie rock, alternative, and hip-hop. Over the years, Tripod became part of a complex that included other popular venues such as Crawdaddy and The POD (located in the old Harcourt Street train station), forming a vibrant hub for club culture and live entertainment in the heart of the city. The venue was celebrated for its role in supporting emerging local talent as well as hosting world-class acts, and Tripod contributed directly to
Dublin’s status as a cosmopolitan city for music and nightlife throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s.
Tripod ceased operations in 2012 due to financial pressures and changes in ownership, leading to a transformation of the site's use; the building eventually became part of the Odeon complex and the multi-venue Press Up hospitality group. Despite its closure, Tripod’s legacy endures through the memories of concertgoers, clubbers, and the thriving artists whose careers were furthered on its stage.
Notable artists who performed at Tripod include international acts such as
LCD Soundsystem,
Hot Chip, The Roots,
MGMT, M.
The venue was also instrumental in showcasing local talent, with Irish acts such as Jape, Republic of
Loose, Delorentos, Fight Like Apes, and Kormac gracing the stage during its years of operation.
