INFO

Weekend was a renowned nightclub located in Berlin, Germany, situated on the upper floors of a former Soviet-era office block on Alexanderplatz. Opened in 2004, the venue quickly established itself as a hallmark of the city’s vibrant nightlife scene, offering dramatic panoramic views of Berlin thanks to its lofty position on the 12th through 15th floors. Weekend distinguished itself as one of Berlin’s premier locations for electronic music, blending sophisticated urban aesthetics with pioneering club culture.
The club’s design was forward-thinking, employing minimalist interiors, vast glass walls, and rooftop terraces that made it a standout among Berlin’s many nightlife destinations. Weekend also gained a reputation for its strict door policy and for hosting some of the most memorable after-hours events in the city, contributing to Berlin’s image as a global epicenter for electronic music and avant-garde nightlife. Over the years, the venue underwent several structural and conceptual changes.
Initially, it was only a club, but later expansions saw it include a hotel and remodel its floors to accommodate new concepts, including the iconic rooftop terrace, which became synonymous with Berlin summer parties. The original Weekend Club closed its doors at Alexanderplatz in 2017, amid changes in the building’s management and shifting nightlife trends in Berlin. However, the brand attempted comebacks under new formats and in new venues, though none fully recaptured the incredible atmosphere or popularity of the original location.
Despite its eventual closure, Weekend’s legacy endures in Berlin’s collective memory as a symbol of the city’s post-reunification creative freedom, international appeal, and unyielding love for innovative club culture. Notable artists who have performed at Weekend include international electronic music icons such as Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Carl Cox, Steve Aoki, Loco Dice, and Tiefschwarz, alongside influential local Berlin DJs like Monika Kruse, Ellen Allien, Dixon, Marcel Dettmann, and Sascha Funke.
