Bridger Ryland

Bridger Ryland is a multidisciplinary artist whose evocative works explore the intersections of memory, landscape, and identity. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Ryland’s early experiences in the American West deeply inform his artistic approach, drawing from the region’s vast terrains and nuanced histories. After earning his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Ryland developed a practice that spans painting, installation, and found-object assemblage.

His work frequently incorporates reclaimed materials and organic textures, creating layered pieces that invite reflection on place and belonging. Ryland’s art has been exhibited nationally in solo and group shows, including appearances at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver and the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. He has held residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and the Mountain Time Arts collective, and his pieces are included in several private and public collections.

Currently based in Portland, Oregon, Bridger Ryland continues to expand his practice, collaborating with writers, musicians, and environmental organizations to investigate the evolving relationship between humans and their environments.
