Friendly Fires Profile Image

Friendly Fires

Friendly Fires are an English indie rock band hailing from St Albans, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, formed in 2006 by childhood friends Ed Macfarlane, Jack Savidge, and Edd Gibson. Drawing from influences that span indie rock, dance-punk, and synth-pop, the trio quickly rose to prominence with their self-titled debut album in 2008, which was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and produced hit singles like "Paris" and "Jump in the Pool." Known for their infectious energy, shimmering production, and euphoric live shows, Friendly Fires blend driving rhythms with lush electronic textures and anthemic choruses, carving a distinct space within the British indie scene.

Their follow-up albums, including "Pala" (2011) and "Inflorescent" (2019), further showcased their evolution, incorporating more eclectic sounds ranging from Balearic beats to tropical pop. Their innovative mix of dancefloor sensibilities and indie guitar work, as well as their reputation for high-octane performances, have cemented Friendly Fires as one of the most dynamic and influential alternative acts to have emerged from the UK in the 21st century.
