Jex Opolis is the musical alias of Canadian producer, multi-instrumentalist, and DJ, Rex Caesar. Originally hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, he moved to Toronto to develop his sound, later relocating to Brooklyn, New York. Jex Opolis is known for his eclectic approach to dance music, blending elements of house, disco, Italo, funk, and synth-driven pop, often incorporating live instrumentation and analog synthesizers into his productions.
Since 2014, Jex Opolis has released music on his own Good Timin’ label and other respected imprints like Running Back and Dekmantel. His breakout came with the 2015 single “Circle of Drums,” which earned underground acclaim, followed by his widely-praised debut album “Ravines” in 2017. His energetic, melodic DJ sets and live performances have brought him to renowned clubs and festivals worldwide, including Panorama Bar in Berlin and Love International in Croatia.
Beyond his original productions, Jex Opolis has built a reputation for funky edits, remixes, and a string of collaborations with artists across the underground dance music spectrum. His “Jexy” vibe celebrates both nostalgia and playfulness, drawing on his love for 80s FM radio, jazzy chord progressions, and a DIY ethos. A prolific talent with a humorous and charismatic presence, Jex Opolis continues to evolve creatively, pushing the boundaries of contemporary dance and electronic music while staying rooted in the joy of groove and melody.
