Josh Wickers is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersections of memory, place, and materiality. Born in 1987 in the Pacific Northwest, Wickers was drawn to creative expression from an early age, experimenting with found objects and unconventional techniques that continue to inform his aesthetic today. He earned his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2010 and later completed his MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Wickers’ practice spans painting, sculpture, and assemblage, weaving together personal histories and broader cultural narratives. His evocative installations often invite viewers into immersive environments, prompting reflection on themes of impermanence and transformation. Wickers has exhibited widely, with solo and group shows at venues including the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, the Seattle Art Museum, and galleries in Berlin and Los Angeles.
Dedicated to community engagement, he has also led workshops and public art projects aimed at fostering dialogue about art’s role in society. Wickers currently lives and works in Chicago, where he continues to push the boundaries of his craft, drawing inspiration from urban landscapes and the evolving textures of daily life.
