Micachu

Micachu is the stage name of Mica Levi, an experimental musician, composer, and producer from the United Kingdom, known for their innovative approach to sound and genre-defying works. Born in Surrey in 1987, Levi trained as a classical musician before delving into electronic and pop music, forming the band Micachu & The Shapes in 2008. The group’s debut album, "Jewellery," released in 2009 to widespread critical acclaim, showcased Levi’s unconventional compositions and DIY ethos, blending elements of grime, pop, and avant-garde experimentalism.

Beyond their band project, Micachu has established a reputation as a sought-after film composer, receiving international recognition for their haunting score for Jonathan Glazer’s 2013 film "Under the Skin," which earned several award nominations, including a BAFTA nomination. Levi continued to garner accolades for their evocative, genre-pushing soundtracks, notably for "Jackie" (2016), which brought them an Academy Award nomination. Renowned for their fearless approach to music-making, Micachu’s work spans from classical orchestration to electronic deconstruction, continually pushing the boundaries of contemporary music and affirming their place as one of the UK’s most inventive and influential artists.
