Segun

Segun is a contemporary visual artist whose work explores the intersections of identity, memory, and urban experience. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, and currently based in London, Segun draws from a cosmopolitan upbringing to create pieces that merge traditional African motifs with modern abstraction. After graduating from the University of Lagos with a degree in Fine Art, Segun’s painting and mixed media installations began to garner attention for their vivid color palettes, textured layers, and dynamic compositions.

Themes of migration, diaspora, and cultural fusion run through Segun’s body of work, reflecting a personal journey as much as a collective narrative. Segun has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions across Europe, Africa, and North America, and was a finalist for the prestigious Turner Emerging Artist Award in 2022. Inspired by daily life, historical archives, and the vibrant energy of metropolitan environments, Segun seeks to provoke dialogue and evoke emotional resonance, bridging gaps between communities and generations through art.
