Shifted, born Guy Brewer, is a British electronic music producer and DJ renowned for his contributions to contemporary techno. Launching his career in the mid-2000s as part of the drum & bass duo Commix, Brewer made a pivotal shift in 2011, adopting the Shifted moniker to explore darker, minimalist techno landscapes. His sound quickly gained notoriety for its stripped-back textures, granular sound design, and experimental undertones.
Rooted in the UK's vibrant techno movement, Shifted rapidly became synonymous with brooding, hypnotic club tracks, channeling inspiration from Berlin’s industrial soundscapes. His debut album, "Crossed Paths" (2012), released on Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver label, earned critical acclaim for its precision and depth. Further cementing his place in the underground circuit, Shifted founded his own labels—Avian and Mira—serving as platforms for boundary-pushing techno from global talents.
Shifted's discography includes highly-regarded releases on labels such as Hospital Productions, Our Circula Sound, and Bed of Nails. Renowned for immersive, uncompromising DJ sets, he has played at legendary clubs like Berghain, fabric, and Tresor, establishing a global reputation for challenging and reshaping techno’s boundaries. Balancing anonymity and artistry, Shifted continues to evolve, pushing forward-thinking techno across both his productions and A&R work, influencing a new generation of producers and sound explorers worldwide.
