SOPHIE, born Sophie Xeon in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1986, was a groundbreaking DJ, producer, and artist whose avant-garde approach to electronic music reshaped the sound and visual presentation of pop in the 2010s. SOPHIE began producing music in her teens, drawn to experimental sounds and the club culture of her hometown before moving to London, where she worked with collectives and developed a distinctive production style characterized by hyperreal textures, metallic synths, and playful, aggressive rhythms. Her 2013 debut single "Nothing More to Say" and subsequent releases, such as "Bipp" and "Lemonade," gained widespread attention for their futuristic sound design and enigmatic presentation.

SOPHIE’s hyperkinetic, synthetic style quickly caught the attention of influential artists and fans alike. As a producer, she contributed to works by Madonna, Charli XCX, and Vince Staples, among others, helping to define the emergent "hyperpop" movement. In 2018, SOPHIE released her only studio album, *OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES*, which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album.

The record was widely praised for its emotional depth, complexity, and innovative production, featuring themes of identity, transformation, and queerness. Openly transgender, SOPHIE became an icon in both the queer and music communities, advocating for self-expression and visibility.
