Wordcolour Profile Image

Wordcolour

Wordcolour is the moniker of London-based composer and producer Nicolas Worrall. Seamlessly blending strands of electronic, classical, and experimental music, Wordcolour crafts intricate sonic worlds where frenetic glitch, jazz-inflected harmonies, and emotive samples collide. Drawing inspiration as much from the contemporary club landscape as from minimalism and musique concrète, his productions are notable for their meticulous sound design and unpredictable arrangements.

Wordcolour’s background as a classical pianist and training in music theory inform his deeply musical approach, while his fascination with language and rhythm brings a distinct narrative dimension to his work. Since emerging in the late 2010s, Wordcolour has released on forward-thinking labels like Houndstooth and Lapsus, and performed genre-blurring live sets and DJ mixes across Europe. His highly regarded debut album, "The Trees Were Buzzing, and the Grass," cemented his reputation as a cutting-edge voice at the intersection of club music and modern composition, earning praise for its innovative textures and evocative, cinematic atmosphere.
